Deleting a part from the database

I am using Datpage 5 Release and I have looked up in the user manual how to delete parts and it says right click and chose delete.

I do not have that option and the Hex Tec that was here installing it said I had full admin rights for it.

Attached is a picture of what I see when trying.

I really need to get these extra parts out because when I export to text, all the old blank dimension labels come in that had been changed at some point. Makes exporting a real pain.

  • That worked... Thanks! Now onto my next question......(my boss has not sent me to training yet).

Even though it deleted the transaction, ghosts of former dimension variables still exist. My end goal is to export a 30 pc Cap study as a CSV and have everything in order....but now there are gaps and whatnot in the data. Why is it not deleting the former dimension variables?

  • You have to remove those variables manually. Same process as above except go back to rows mode. Select the variables to delete, right click and select "Delete Variables".

The database doesn't know that the variables only apply to certain transactions, once they are created, they are there until you make them go away.

When I make changes to a program (basically any changes to dimensions except for tolerances), I will change the name of the program (the very top line) with a "rev" indicator. For me that is with a .0, .1, .2, etc, after the part number, so 123456.0 goes to 123456.1, which creates a new file within DP.
