Datapage 5.2 Editing Labels

I edited one of the variable info labels included with the software. I changed the =GetObjectName(FeatureVariableName) to =GetObjectName(DimensionVariableName) in one of the cells, saved to a different file name. I applied the newly saved label and it works as intended. I can then go back and edit the label and change something as simple as font size in one of the cells, reapply and receive a "label type does not match the source" error. Any ideas here? Getting a little frustrated.
  • That error occurs when you chose the wrong type of data source in your feature/dimension dropdown. You're trying to use features or dimension when you should be using feature variable or dimension variable. Or it could be reversed but not all labels can be applied to all data. I was able to take default labels and change fonts without issue as long as I applied them to the correct data type when creating a report.

If you're selecting "feature" then try to select "feature variable" or reverse. The same for "dimension" and "dimension variable".
  • The label worked perfect selecting "dimension variable". I literally changed nothing other than the font size in one of the cells keeping everything else the same and received the "label type does not match the source" error.
  • I cannot reproduce any issue modifying fonts in custom labels and I tried to reproduce your issue just now. I would verify you're choosing the correct label for the data type and ensure that you select that label again when trying to reapply it. Datapage may just be choosing a different label type and deselecting the current label since there have been changes made to it.
  • Thanks for the help, I will go back and review and see if I can figure out why this is happening.
  • Well there is definitely something going on with my version of the software. I created a new label from scratch and it works perfect. However, if I open the label in editor and change anything I get the "label type does not match the source" error" after saving and reapplying. Before I though t maybe it had something to do with the fact that I was modifying one of the existing software labels. At this point I will just have to make sure that the label is exactly as I want it when I create it because it will no longer work if I open and edit.
