The "Configurations" menu group contains the options for customising the Q-DAS application.
Evaluation Strategy The core of a validated evaluation is known as the evaluation strategy. In the evaluation strategy, the statistical calculations and specifications can be defined on a client-specific basis, or the already established company standards and guidelines can be used. This ensures that the results can be compared and reproduced across the organisation and between sites. In addition to the Q-DAS evaluation strategies, which are different for each module, the Q-DAS application also includes company-specific evaluation strategies. A separate topic provides technical descriptions of how to use the evaluation strategies. Link to: Evaluation Strategy |
Language Provides a pull-down menu to change the language within the Q-DAS application. From version 14.0.2.x all languages are available without licensing. The available languages and how to create language specific reports, forms or graphics is explained in a separate topic. Link to: Languages in the Q-DAS Software |
General Settings The basic configuration of the Q-DAS applications is set using the options in the "General Settings" dialogue. The settings affect the graphical interface, printing behaviour, graphics handling or text layout. Link to: General Settings Dialogue |
User Management User administration is one of the central elements. The options available in User Management and how to configure groups and users is part of a separate topic. Link to: User Management |

Paths The "Directories" dialogue provides the paths used by the Q-DAS applications. These are, for example, the default masks, reports, logo or default directory for DFQ files. An overview of the various configurations for the directories and paths that are used by the Q-DAS applications is part of a separate topic. Link to: Q-DAS Application Paths |
Databases Database Selection and Configuration |
Q-DAS Database The connection to the value database can be changed here. In classic networks with server-client provision, this is not necessary if a database is made centrally available to all clients via the server configuration. The database selection is saved for the product started at this workstation. The manual database change should therefore only be used if the functionality and location of the database is known. |
Central Database Connection The rules for the central database are the same as for the normal Q-DAS database. The central database is used, for example, to synchronise local test plans into a single database or to store measurement data from different recording stations centrally. In O-QIS MCA/CMM Reporting with buffer databases, this database connection is used to transfer the measurement files to the central database after acknowledgement. When using O-QIS MCA/CMM Reporting without buffer databases, all measurements are stored in the central database. In Q-DM and M-QIS Reporting, the central database connection entry is the fallback level if no database connection is selected. |
Compress Database This button can be used to compress the Microsoft Access value database. It is not possible to repair the database using this button. The "Compress Database" button is only displayed if the currently selected connection under Q-DAS Database is a connection to a Microsoft Access database. |
Options The "Options” (database configuration) dialogue is the main configuration tool for handling the value database. It is used to manage the value database, but it also includes options that affect the loading of data from the database. • The "Value Database - Functions and Administration" topic provides an overview and general use of the database management options. Link to: "Options (database configuration)" dialogue • An overview and general use of the options that affect the loading of data, for example when using the "Read from Database" or "Part Selection Database" dialogues, is covered in the "Read from Database" topic. Link to: Configuration of the "Read from Database" dialogue • For a better understanding, the effect of the options on the "Part Selection Database" dialogue is described in a separate document. Link to: Part Selection Database |
Configuration Database Synchronisation / Start Database Synchronisation manually Depending on the data flow and existing infrastructure, it may be necessary to keep test plans locally available for recording. However, in order to view the locally recorded data from different measuring stations, or to make it available for various users, it is necessary to transfer them to a central location. The use cases where local test plans can be synchronised with the central database, and how they are configured and used, are described in a separate topic. Link to: Synchronisation of Local Test Plans with the Central Database |
Release locked Parts Brings up the dialogue that allows the user to release test plans in the database that have been locked by another user. This was previously only available to users with database administration rights. |
Database Texts Opens the dialogue that allows the user to modify the contents of the text database. All texts in the database can be edited using this dialogue. Before making any changes to the text database, it is strongly recommended to consult the Q-DAS project team. Changes to the text database cannot be undone. |
Catalogues |
The handling, configuration, transfer and export of the catalogues is described in a separate document. Link to: Catalogues | ||
Catalogue of translations From version 12, Q-DAS software offers the possibility of translating K-field contents. By creating a sort of catalogue with individual entries for different languages, the entries can be used to translate the K-field contents, e.g. in Q-DAS graphics or reports. Link to: Translation of K-fields |
K-field Defaults An alternative to manual input in part and characteristic masks is the use of user-defined selection lists. The "K-field defaults" dialogue provides the possibility to create a sort of catalogue with individual entries for a K-field. Link to: Selection List for K-fields (Customised Entries) |
Printer These settings are used to configure PDF and printer output settings, as well as the default for graphics output. |
Ribbon / Compare Ribbons The ribbon bar is the basic tool for working with the Q-DAS product. It is dynamic, meaning that the components available depend on the product, user group, and context. The default ribbon does not include all commands. How to customise and compare ribbon bars for different user groups is explained in a separate topic. Link to: Ribbon Bar |
Fields, input and output |
Required input fields The required input fields are a way of forcing the user to enter information. How K-fields are defined as required fields and when a check is performed is explained in a separate topic. Link to: Required Input Fields |
Definition of the used measured quantity The user can select a "Measured quantity" in the characteristics mask by selecting an entry. This allows the available entries and their order to be specified. |

Calculated expression Access to the dialogue for creating individual output points with a user-defined calculation formula. |
Result export (file) These settings are used to define the fields (output points) for the calculated results to be output to a file. Configuration and handling is described in a separate topic. Link to: Export Results |
Alarms These settings are used to configure alarms. The Q-DAS software provides the option of triggering alarms in the case of an error during data recording or upload. The alarm conditions and range of functions depend on the Q-DAS product/module used. For better understanding, the configuration and handling of alarms is described within the topic of the relevant product/module. |
Additional Settings | ||
Global Colour Settings With the implementation of styles, which allow centralised configuration of graphics, this option has become obsolete. In previous versions, the global colour settings were used to define a sort of preset, which could then be applied to individual graphics via the graphics settings dialog. No settings should be made here. Use the styles for easier and more transparent handling of graphics. |
Documentation Allocation Settings These settings are used to configure the general settings for assigning documents, graphics and screenshots during data recording or upload. The conditions and range of functions depend on the Q-DAS product/module used. For a better understanding, the configuration and handling are described within the topic of the relevant product/module. |
