ALIGNP1P2 offset question

Hello all,
Quick question here.

Using ALIGNP1P2(CSY=NEWPART$CSY, NE1=(10,-10), AE1=CIR_1, NE2=(-10,10), AE2=CIR_2)

Are the NE points for reference, or are they defining where the circles are located at?
I would assume that if I am creating an alignment from two measured features that the locations of the measured points would be sufficient.

  • MechMon,

the NE1/NE2 values are defining the nominal location of the two measured holes. An alignment will be created (shifted and/or rotated) such that the new alignment has either 'forced/set' one of the circles to be at the nominal location or a symmetry point between the two circles, dependent upon what you enter for MOD (zero at point1 or point2 or symmetry between 1 and 2) .

Therefore to correct you comment, no, more than the measured values are required if you desire to have a specific alignment that forces the orientation such that the measured ELE's are forced to a nominal location.
