ISO 1101 Position tolerance

Dear Quindos experts,

I am learning quindos 2020.2 with basic training given by the cmm supplier and installer. I am having difficulties to evaluate the ISO position tolerance for inner and outer cylinder (hole and pin). I have measured the elements as cylinder and as a basic circle. The position tolerance for the circle I used the command POSITNXY with circle tolerance zone and got the result as expected with X_correction and Y_correction ActualValue. I can understand the value is the difference from Act vs measured. If the measured value is plus(more) it shows with X correction -0.0000 and oppsite for less.

Could you please explain how to evaluate the position tolerance for the measured cylinders using the position (POSITN) command. I mean all the correct inputs for this command to get the position tolerance as per DRF.

What is the X and Y correction values and how to understand?

I just enclosed the rough sketch and the snip from the results.

Thank you for your kind help.

Regards,

  • First off, check that the Coordintae system PART is activated (USECSY PART), before using the POSITNXY command.

The X_CORR & Y_CORR evaluations are related to the corection values for the Machining centre, hence the opposite signing. These days nobody uses this functionality.
  • Hi Quidos Team,
Thank you for your input. Yes, PART CSY activated while construct the PART csy and measured the cylinders then I tried use the POSITN command.
    I have measured as a plan for DAT A, B ,C. Can I use the ABC for the reference 1 2 3.

Any way I will check again.

    Thank you.
  • Try :

    POSITNXY (NAM=CYL40PTN, OBJ=CYL40, TYP=CYL, DIX=190.2, DIY=136.5, MIN=0, MAX=35)
  • Try :

    POSITNXY (NAM=CYL40PTN, OBJ=CYL40, TYP=CYL, DIX=190.2, DIY=136.5, MIN=0, MAX=35)

    Hi,

I am sorry. Thank you for your kind help and support. As you said, I tried POSITNXY command for the circles I have measured at Z2.0 and Z33.0 and the position tolerance were correct and confirmed with manual calculated position. So, POSITNXY correct for the circle with circular tolerance zone.

I just wanted to evaluate position tolerance for the CYLINDER 35mm length. ( I mean the cylinder axis sitting with in the cylindrical tolerance zone).

If you could please, try and put the screen shot of the POSITN with the correct input parameters for the CYLINDER 35mm length.

    Thank you.
  • ...Type in MIN=0, MAX=35, TYP=CYL in the command POSITNXY.

POSITNXY is a derivate from POSITN.

    Hi Quindos Team,

Thank you again for your help and support.

There is no option to input Min and Max in the POSITNXY command but in the POSITN command have this input. I have tried using POSITN with min and max different data input and checked the result and compared the position. Hope I am doing the correct way to get the position tolerance as I said. Please see the print screen.

Please confirm all the option input data are correct.

    Thank you.

  • POSITNXY (NAM=CYL40PTN, OBJ=CYL40, TYP=CYL, DIX=190.2, DIY=136.5, MIN=0, MAX=35) is the correct solution.

As mentioned before, POISTNXY is a sub-set of POSITN, so all of the POSITN Arguments are valid in POSITNXY.
