Hello in help about computation of characteristics array is written:
Geometric - Adams Car calculates the steer axis by passing a line through the points you selected in the Coordinate Reference text boxes. The Kingpin Location will be set to the I Coordinate Reference, so be sure to choose a location on the wheel spin axis.
Instant axis - Adams Car calculates the steer axis as the instant axis of rotation of the wheel carrier parts. To calculate the steer axis, in physical terms, Adams Car first locks the spring travel and applies incremental steering torque or force. Then, from the resulting translation and rotation of the wheel carrier part, it is able to calculate the instant axis of rotation for each wheel. The instant axis of rotation corresponds to the steer axis.
I do not understand underlined and bold part of definition. If i understand correct what is wheel spin axis (axis about which wheel rotates), why for example in double wishbone suspension template in acar shared is for I Coordinate Reference (Kingpin location) used ._double_wishbone.ground.hpl_lca_outer.
AFAIK it is not wheel spin axis, but of course spin axis for double wishbone is correct
I think by saying spin axis, the documentation doens't mean the axis tire/wheel rotate about. Instead, it means the axis that wheel and upright steer about. Therefore, the template defines the axis using two hardpoints, hpl_lca_outer and hpl_uca_outer.
