I am trying to model a rear trailing arm system used in BAJA SAE that has a locked differential, it works fine with the differential free, but when I lock the differential, the suspension stops being independent.
I removed the subframe from the default trailing arm suspension as we dont use a subframe, and with a free diff, the suspension works as expected, single wheel travel only affects that side of the suspension.
When I use a translation joint between the two tripots, single wheel travel affects both sides of the suspension, with the right side seeing 4500 lbf of normal force instead of the previous 70, and not moving as expected
