How to provide a friction preload torque value for rotational joint from a state variable (from Simulink)

I am trying to model friction preload torque for a rotating shaft, whose  friction value should be fed by Simulink through a state variable. I cannot link the value in state variable to Friction input, since it can accept only design variable. (attached screenshot)
 
Can anyone help me in solving this issue.?
