Stress recovery from nonlinear FE_PART

Hi All

I am running a nonlinear FE_PART model and would like to obtain the stress and strain values along the beam. Essentially I am just looking for the point of maximum stress. I am not sure if there is a post-process step I am missing, but I cannot seen any obvious way of doing this.

Thanks

Etienne
  • Hi Etienne,

In general, stress recovery is supported by Adams Durability plugin. If you have this plugin available, you can simply go to Plugins in the menu ribbon and left-click on Durability. Then select the options "FE Part Output".

In the "Compute FE Part Stress and Strain" dialog box, fill out the required boxes and hit OK. Now if you go to the post processor and set the Source to Results Sets, you can see a new result set named as [FE_PART name]_[STRESS] or [FE_PART name]_[STRAIN]. Upon selecting it, you see a results set component named as [MARKER name]_[STRESS/STRAIN component] or [FE_NODE name]_[STRESS/STRAIN component].

I hope you find this information helpful.
