In Full Vehicle Analysis – 3D road - I use dcd file to control the longitudinal car velocity, however the solver slows down the car when passing curves in the road. Why the car slows down, when in the dcd file I have fixed longitudinal car velocity?

  • Have you checked the throttle signal and torque output when entering the corner?
When you enter the corner and the front wheel turns, there is of course an increased drag from the front wheels having a slip angle and therefore creating drag. This has to be compensated by the driver model and the powertrain.
There are a couple of things that can affect this and cause the vehicle to slow down:
    1. There is not enough torque available from the powertrain. If the throttle command goes to 100% this is likely6 the case.
    2. The driver model is too sluggish and don't react fast enough. In the DCD file you can adjust the longitudinal velocity controller parameters. It is a simple PID controller. Try play with the P and D parts in particular.

  • Thank you for the answer. It seems, it is the problem with the car torque.
