Unable to Deactivate a part/constraint in Adams Car

I wanted to deactivate a part in Adams Car so I used the deactivate command in the right click menu. But that did not work and when I click on the Info button it still says ACTIVE = ON. Also tried using the command navigator to navigate to the part section and clicked on attributes. Then I selected the parts I wanted deactivated and changed the active field to off. I have tried this on both templates and subsystems. But the info still shows the part as active. Am I doing something wrong? How exactly do we deactivate the part in Adams Car?
  • Hi Anuj,

The method you have mentioned does work and deactivate the part. If I try to deactivate the part from treeview I can see that it gets deactivated like shown below. Could you please try this from treeview like shown below and let us know if that works. It also works from the command navigator like shown below. Could you please test this and let us know if that works?

If you are still facing issues, I would request you to share your template and information on Adams version and we can take a look.

  • I actually tested using deactivate on every other part and it works but doesn't work on the driveshaft and tripot. I am using the "double wishbone.tpl" from the default acar_shared database. I have Adams v2021.0.2.
  • Hi Anuj,

The behavior that you're facing regarding driveshafts/tripots parts is correct, in case of _doubel_wishbone.tpl template. This template contains customized "driveline activity tool" which can be used in Standard Interface of Adams/Car. Please create a subsystem based on "double_wishbone" template. Then using menu please navigate to Adjust --> Driveline Activity, you should get dialog box where you can activate/deactivate driveshafts/tripots parts.
This customization helps to get more generic suspension subsystem which can be used for front suspension and for rear suspension as well. That's idea behind. Please see below screenshot.
