How to setup working directory to point somewhere else then to user dir

Hello everyone,

How is possible to setup working dir so it is not pointing to user dir, like it is in default?

In settings and license there is option:

but it seems that is not making difference for me. Adams is always starting with default working dir in user dir

Hi Jozef,

I use the *Start In* input in the Adams View shortcut properties.

Thanks Maziar, but why and how this should work, i mean it is possible to setup working directory using setup and license. This could be handy for me to setup all computers for all students during teams time just to there and setup dir. Also in every class i can find at least one person, who asked me how to do this and why is this not working in settings and license app.

I am not able to make work either. I will work with the PD team to look into this and resolve it if it is not a user misunderstanding.

But the method using no input for Start In in the Adams View shortcut's properties is what I have always found helpful.

I tried to setup working dir with same procedure in RHEL 7.7 and Adams 2021.0.1.

In Linux it is working as intended. There is also option to setup different working dir for view and car.

I have never, neither will I ever start Adams by clicking on icons. Neither can I have ONE working directory

I navigate the Windows explorer to the directory where my current project resides. Then type cmd in the address bar to open a command window there. Then start Adams by calling one of my bat files to start Adams, right now it would be aview21 or acar21. So then that will be my working directory.

That Working-Dir setting is only valid for remote computing.

If you're using it, then this is the working dir on the remote machine.

When I do internal trainings, I always recommend the participants to either

use a blank field in "start in" and then copy the Icon to where they want it to start

enter the desired start-dir in the "start in" filed

But if you have to setup a bunch of machines anyway, why not add a "start adams here" right-mouseclick context-menue ?

It's a simple registry tweak on the directory environment-variables and can bei found in SimCompanion or on the old forums.

What I did was to let it point to an own "start_ACar.bat" where I could change the path to the mdi.bat on my own without having admin privileges.
