Hello I'm trying to simulate a crate falling down an inclined plane to understand the basics of MSC Adams View. I added a translational joint between the crate and the inclined plane. If I leave the joint frictional settings unmodified (shown in screenshot attached), the joint acts as a frictionless joint but as soon as I decrease say Mu Dynamic from 0.3 to 0.2, friction gets activated. Interestingly there seems to be no option to deactivate the joint friction again. The only way I could remove joint friction completely was by deleting the joint (with modified frictional settings) and creating a new one.
Can anyone with more experience help me with this one ? Thank you in advance.
If you display icons in your model you should see a friction element icon on top of the joint. Delete or deactivate the friction element and there will be no friction.
Your other comments regarding changing the friction coefficient makes no sense to me ...
Okay that clears it up. Thanks. I just meant that changing default values in the joint friction settings window automatically activates frictional force. Also one cannot know if the joint friction is activated or not, solely by reading the values/settings in the joint friction setting window. Thanks again.
You can activate/deactivate things by right click on it + (De)activate, you can do the same in the Browse tab. Then the color will change in the screen getting darker and the deactivated item in the browse tab will have a red sign on top.
