Is it possible to model cable drum in ADAMS?

I tried this with ADAMS machinery. To model the drum i placed a few pulleys side by side and hoped it would nicely wrap the cable. But it didn't work.

  • If you're at enhancing anyway:
How about giving the naked cables a coat and upgrade them to bowden cables (i.e. introduce friction losses dependent on cable routing)
Then I tested the discretized cable flavor and I seldom came to something less usable. The performance and solver stability is rock bottom (if not less than that).
How about flushing it down and think about using the newly introduced FE parts for that purpose ? I.e. one for the cable and one for the coat that contact each other. Performance wise that should be much better (not to mention the creation process).
