scSTREAM, fan curves and altitude/elevated temperature...

A typical fan curve from test data is done at Sea Level, room temperature. If studying a system at higher altitude or temperature, we typically correct the fan curve accordingly and also modify the air properties. Is this the proper procedure or are we double-penalizing ourselves? If so, is changing the material properties while keeping the fan curve as-is the correct way?
