I am try to modeling the friction welding in Marc 2017.1 for analysis the temperature distribution and stress at each point using thermal-structural analysis. I had to consider two steel rod having same material in this analysis. First Rod 1 consider as rotation component about z axis and second Rod 2 consider as stationary component . Also considering glue contact having friction value 0.3 between interface of these two rods.
Problem:-
1 How to rotate the frist ROD 1 (Rotating component ) about z axis
2. How to slide the second Rod 2 (stationary component) toward rod1 having 30 MPa pressure
3.I am try to made marc model considering above parameters but facing error.
Please resolve my problem and i have to upload one literature with this mail for more help
You can create a rigid body with a surface on the far end of ROD 1, and glue it with ROD 1. You can apply rotation on this rigid body.
You just apply the pressure on the far end face of ROD 2. You should use a time table to load it gradually.
3. I don't think you can use glued contact with friction. If you want to use friction, you should use touching contact. You can set the separation force/stress to be very large to make them hard to separate though.
4. You have defined friction coefficient in contact interactions, but you didn't choose friction method in job settings. Friction will not be effective because of that.
