Help with double cantilever beam problem (cohesive elements)

Does anyone have experience with modeling the double cantilever beam problem? I would like to replicate the results from this paper: www.sciencedirect.com/.../S0013794406003808

I am using plane strain elements. I tried quad4 and quad8, different discretizations etc. The value of the critical force that I am getting is ~3-5x lower than in the paper. When I use VCCT with the same value of the critical strain energy release rate, I am getting much better results, although still somewhat different from the published results.

If allowed on this forum, I could attach the PDF of the paper.

Any help would be greatly appreciated

Cohesive element has thickness direction, make sure the element orientation is correct.

I checked the thickness direction, it looks OK, please see attached. Are there any other potential problems?
