When S2S was introduced in 2011, there were few limitations such as, Deactivation of glued contact, Breaking glue, Wear, Domain Decomposition Method (DDM) etc.
With the current version i.e 2020, following are the limitations,
Anisotropic friction
Brake squeal
Pore pressure
Node to segment contact is still the default in Marc. S2S is better in some cases such as double sided shell contact. It gives better stress distribution and solution time should be better than N2S. Due to the difference in the two methods ( N2S - Solver constraints / elimination method & S2S- Penalty and Lagrangians) each has its own merits and demerits.
