Zienkiewicz-Zhu Stress Error Norm

I ran linear elastic analysis with tetra 4 and tetra 10 elements and the Zienkiewicz-Zhu Stress Error Norm is zero over all. Why?

It should show nonzero values.

  • Hello Victor Marian,

These error norms are only available for continuum elements supporting "local adaptive meshing". The error norm evaluates the difference between the calculated integration point quantity (eg. σ) and the smoothed nodal quantity interpolated back to the integration points (eg. σ* = N σN).

Use local adaptive meshing in your 3D model. You should be able to get the value of Zienkiewicz-Zhu Stress Error Norm scalar as shown in below image,

    Kiran
