I'm getting an error every time a start Apex about incompatable (beta) database schema models. What should I do?

The full text reads:

"Error Creating Default Model.

This may be due to incompatable (Beta) Database Schema versions. You may need to delete existing database and bootstrap files"

It then shuts down Apex.

The Apex lock server process is not running on your machine. This SimCompanion article gives details on how to get it working:

Rename/Delete the "old" Apex config file "MSC_ApexConfig.xml" in the folder:

%appdata%\..\local\msc\MSC_Apex

If this does not help:

re-install the Apex Lock server with the script "lsconfig.bat" in the folder <APEX_INSTALL_DIR>\Components\eom\WIN8664\bin

Run this as administrator.
