I think I may have found a bug when exporting flexible connectors to .bdf (Version - Harris Hawk SP1)

I exported a simple model of two plate with holes, that were connected by a remote location flexible connector. The exported BDF gave the CBAR element and the first RBE the same PID. This prevents the RBE from being imported to Patran without manually changing one of the PID's. Is there a workaround for this or have I done something wrong?

This isn't strictly a bug, since this is OK for Nastran. Patran doesn't like it by default, as you've found. However you can set an environment variable that will enable you to import the bdf without making changes. The environment variable name is NIFIMP_SAMEIDOK_MPC_ELEM - set this to YES.

There are two ways you can set it:

As a Windows environment variable. Go to Control Panel / System / Advanced System Settings / Environment Variables. Create a new one.

2. Or edit the file site_setup.pm in your Patran installation and add the following line to it:

setEnv('NIFIMP_SAMEIDOK_MPC_ELEM', 'YES');
