I can hide components that aren't of interest in a post-processing plot. But the legend and (more importantly to me) the max/min hot spot marker tool still see or reflect the plotted but hidden data in the hidden parts/assemblies. I'd like to be able to hide some components and then click the hot spot marker tool to have it point to the hot spots in the shown components.
The only workaround I've found is to hide components of non-interest, plot the desired stress, use probe and select all the shown nodes, use the probe data spreadsheet and sort highest to lowest, note the highest reporting node, clear the posted probe data for all the nodes and then post probe data for only the highest reporting node. Lots of steps and not as visually appealing as the hot spot marker tool.
Hopefully, I'm just not fully utilizing some existing functionality within the model browser in post.
To do this you have to plot the fringe only on the part that you're interested in: in the "Post Model" section of the model tree, right-click on the part and select "Set as Plot Target":
Now plot your fringe, then switch on the hot spot display. You should find the markers show up only on the selected part:
Thanks Darrel, that helped me figure it out. There's a lot of complexity and power in that post model tree, especially with large multi-level assemblies.
