How to edit a sketch of a part?

I am new to the Apex, so please bear with me. Once a sketch of a part is created and exited out from, how can this sketch be modified? When using the "Edit Sketch" tool, I am not able to modify the original sketch of a part.

This solution is acceptable provided there is no other approach to modifying the original sketch at this time. Thanks for your suggestion.
