Guidelines, examples, tips for going Apex to Patran to Nastran or Apex to Nastran?

Are there any published guides or examples for using Apex as a pre-processor to Nastran or a pre-pre-processor to Patran? I'm not finding much detail on what Apex does and doesn't write when exporting a Nastran BDF from an Apex model.

  • Hi bmcnatt,

You can simply write the bdf file as well as the parasolid from Apex using File/Export Option and then import it into Patran.

After importing it into Patran, you would have to associate the FEM to geometry. Please see below article for guidelines on that:

When writing out bdf file, Apex writes out all the model data information (grids, elements, loads, Boundary conditions, material properties, etc)

Hope this helps! Feel free to contact customer support if you have follow-up questions.

    Kind regards,
