How to assign the 1D cross-section for different element property ?

Hi,

I have created the cross section (ex. rectangle) by beams -> Shapes -> New -> shape type -> standard -> Rectangle. After that i went into the create beam span panel. There, i cant able to find the options to select the 1d element type (Rod/Bar/Beam). I think its taking Beam element property automatically.

You can find the beam/bar/rod option in Numeric profile.

Thank very much for your answer. These both methods (standard and Numeric) are really useful based on the situation. But, in most of the time i'll be using the standard shape. I would like to know, how to assign the different element type (Rod/Bar/Beam) using the standard shape option. Because, ill rarely use the Numeric type option.

You can enter data into Standard shape, then switch to "Numeric" type (before exiting from standard shape). That will take same values into Numeric type. But this works for BEAM only as type is same. You can copy or take note of values in BEAM section and enter into BAR and ROD respectively.

This is the only way you can switch the type.
