I'm running a SOL 700 and I get the following message "Fatal Error in SOL700 Translator - rbe3 is not supported. Please check version=original option" (see attachment). However, in page 166 of Explicit Nonlinear (SOL 700) User's Guide is says that RBE3 are supported.
Additionally how could I check version=original beforehand in patran or in the analysis file? I have tried dematd.exe, which seems to be running without errors but no files are generated.
As far as RBE3 are concerned, there is a conflict between the release guide and the Explicit Nonlinear (SOL 700) User's Guide (chapter 5, p. 166). In the user's guide it says that RBE3 and RBE3D are supported but in the release guide it says that RBE3D are not supported stating nothing about RBE3. I use RBE3.
Furthermore, in the release guide it says that VERSION=PRIMARY is optional in the analysis file as it's the default. If I use any MATDi no translation to the equivalent MAT of 2018 version takes place. My question on this is how could I use the translator (dematd.exe) externally or somehow in the analysis file, or find my 2018 MATs in Patran.
I think you are referring to old documentation for Explicit Nonlinear (SOL 700) User’s Guide
The section in the 2018.2 guide has:
Multi-Point Constraints MPCs are special element types which define a rigorous behavior between several specified nodes. The following MPC types which are supported for MSC Nastran SOL 700: MPC RBE2 RBJOINT REJSTIFF RCONN
Note: this change relates to the underlying solver technology moving from LS-Dyna to a new explicit solver. This is detailed in the 2018 release guide: simcompanion.mscsoftware.com/.../index
