I am trying to do modal analysis of spar. I have modeled flanges using CBEAM and web using CSHEAR elements . I got modal frequencies but I am not sure if they are correct. I found a technical article which tells to use CROD/ extensional stiffness on all 4 sides of CSHEAR as CSHEAR is unstable element. I didn't use CROD/ extensional stiffness in my model. Can anyone guide me on use of CSHEAR elements (should I use CROD)?
If the spar is the main item being analyzed, and not just part of a larger model, what is the deciding factor for using CSHEAR elements? It seems using CQUAD4 element for both the web and flange might be more appropriate? The bending stiffness of the web might be important in the modes of the component. Even if you still want to use CBEAM for the flange, you could still use CQUAD4 for the web.
My professor has asked me to use CSHEAR element for modeling of spar/rib webs.
Also, the aim is to model whole wing. I have no problem in modeling skins or flanges. However, I am finding it difficult to model CSHEAR elements. Is there any comprehensive tutorial available on use of CSHEARs? Or can you please check the bdf and tell me where I am making mistakes?
