I attempted to use CROD elements to represent the cables although the solution produces garbage results under linear static and wont converge at all under nonlinear solution.
Are there good methods for representing cables in NASTRAN?
It seems nonlinear is your best option, in which case you can have nonlinear material properties. You could also use GAP's, or nonlinear CBUSH elements. Here is an article that mentions these capabilities:
