I have sine and random analysis stresses I need to validate for our instrument models containing plate, solid and beam elements. To date, I have used the RMS stress components to approximate the RMS Von Mises for random or peak stress in sine.

Nastran does not compute vonM Stresses in frequency response. MSC Random in patran has ability to create RMS VonM.
