Solve with Marc

Dear all,

I have multiple models created in Patran. I have the abilitiy to solve with Nastran but I don`t have Nastran Sol400.

Is it possible to create a complete model with contacts in Patran and solve it with Marc?

Because I have enough tokens to solve in Marc and Marc has the ability to solve non-linear and contacts.

Yes, you can use the Marc-Preference under "Preferences/Analysis". Use "Mapping Functions" to switch a preferenece from Nastran to Marc. Nevertheless not all Nastran data are translated to Marc automatically, you have to check your model after the switch.

Analysis code is indeed switched to MSC.Marc. Where can I find this Mapping Functions option you are speaking about?

Yes at first it wasn`t available so one has to switch to Nastran again and back.

This setting can also be done AFTER the model in Patran has been completed/prepared?

Because I got a message about element type is not chosen?

*** error - no element types chosen and no substructure input

In addition: This is just a testcase which runs in Nastran and then I do not get this errormessage but the model is fully converged.
