Is it possible to model a bearing with SOL 101 and linear contacts?
So in fact I am not interested in large deflection or dynamics but in fact want to model a bearing, the bearing will be 2 simple rings and the inner ring will be given a certain force/speed. Of course the rings will be attached to other parts.
It seems that is issue has not been responded to by anyone. My answers below contains lots of assumption regarding what you may be doing or the approach you are trying to take. Here are some comments on it.
If you are not interested in dynamics, and if your structure ( both sides Journal and Bearing sides are properly constrained to prevent rigid body modes you should be able to use touching contact between to two bearings ( modeled with solid elements) and speed can be provided by the RFORCE in Nastran. ( Inertial load option in Patran).
