Is it possible to suppress parts in Patran? I would like to perform small tests with contacts but not all parts are needed. Of course I don`t want to delete mesh.
In the Analysis group one can perform an analyze by a selected group so that would be a backup. But then I have to perform first a new group.
Running the analysis for a selected group would be your only way to do this. And you are right, you would have to define a group first in order to do that.
Don't forget there are lots of ways to create groups automatically under Group/Create, so you can easily create a group using your contact bodies of interest.
Note there are also easy options for creating groups by (e.g.) connectivity and so on in Utilities/Groups.
Yes, if you select the group Patran should use the LBCs and contacts defined on members of that group.
LBCs (including contacts) are not themselves members of groups; the examples I gave above are just possible ways to manage your model. So for example if you create a group from LBC sets, what you're really doing is creating a group of the geometry and/or elements that have those LBCs applied. Does that clarify things?
Yes that is clear now. That clarifies also why I get the same fatal for my model:
INDEX LOGNAME STREAM_ID NAME
3 MASTER 00000003 ./test.MASTER
*** SYSTEM FATAL MESSAGE 4276 (XIO)
ERROR CODE 4276 PID= 0
*** USER INFORMATION MESSAGE 4276 (XIO)
-Could it be related to my contact definition?
-I don`t have enough tokens to run the model in Patran so I first run the model by the selected groups. Then abort the run and then run the model by Nastran otherwise I don`t have the selected group analysis in Nastran.
4276 errors are typically associated with running out of resources (e.g. filling up your disk). There should be other related error messages in the f06 that might give a better idea of what's causing the problem.
If you don't have enough tokens to run Patran and Nastran at the same time, then after you submit the run quit out of Patran - Nastran should then automatically pick up on the tokens that Patran has released.
Alernatively, use the "Analysis Deck" option instead to write out the model, then run it in Nastran.
