Patran Community Forum (Patran 2014) - Is it possible to show the material coodinate systems in 3D solids? I found the untility option "Plot Material Orientation". But this is only working fr 2D Structures. Thanks.

Hi,

This is a current limitation in patran. It does not show the material orientation directions for layers defined for 3D composite elements. Your findings regarding the "Plot Material Orientation" utility are also correct and it only supports 2D elements. You may want to try Marc/Mentat to see if it is suported in it.

Your findings regarding the "Plot Material Orientation" utility are also correct and it only supports 2D elements. You may want to try Marc/Mentat to see if it is suported in it.
