Associate geometry /hard geometry

When I associate a curve with a surface, I would expect that for the meshing, the mesh would consider the complete line for the meshconnection. But it seems only the outer points are considered for the mesh, see attached picture.
I want to have a connection between 2 surfaces and this should be the way to do this?

  • Thanks all.
Darrel regarding your attachement: the first line quotes:
    "Surface mesher used for Tetmesh"
I have a solid which I will mesh with a Tethmesh (Tet10). Also I have a hard geometry curve on this solid. With Tetmesh I also get the same issue with Hybrid on a surface. Only some points are selected for the mesh. How can I change this? Preferred for this bar is of course a hexmesh.

  • Tetmeshing is effectively a multi-stage process (you can see this is the messages in the history window - "Completed Meshing on Vertices" etc.). The Hybrid mesher is used in the first stages of this, so the tetmesh has the same limitations in terms of hard geometry.

However, you can surface mesh any face of a solid and a subsequent tetmesh will match the surface mesh. This is a useful technique generally for controlling mesh density on different parts of the same solid. In your model, you can mesh that face using the Paver mesher, which will respect the hard curve. The tetmesh will then follow the surface mesh.
