I am getting myself started with MSC Nastran/Patran Analysis. I will be doing some basic Linear Static Analysis. Any help/tutorial/reference material I can use to get myself started? My previous FEA background is in LS-Dyna

  • Hi Shaheer,

Since you are new to Nastran/Patran I highly recommend you to take our introductory online class, NAS120 - Linear Static Analysis using MSC Nastran and Patran. The link is below. Your company might already have access to these online classes. If you are having trouble accessing this link please contact msc.training@mscsoftware.com with your details.

The NAS120 class introduces basic finite element analysis techniques for linear static, normal modes, and buckling analysis of structures using MSC Nastran and Patran. MSC Nastran data structure, the element library, modeling practices, model validation, and guidelines for efficient solutions are discussed and illustrated with examples and workshops. Patran will be an integral part of the examples and workshops and will be used to generate and verify illustrative MSC Nastran models, manage analysis submission requests, and visualize results. This seminar provides the foundation required for intermediate and advanced MSC Nastran applications.
    Pre-requisites :
No previous finite element analysis or computer-based modeling experience is required. A basic knowledge of statics and strength of materials is highly recommended
