Is there a way in Patran to align the first edge of a quad or tri element (direction of node 1 to 2) and thus the element coordinate system with a user defined coordinate system X axis?

Interesting question... it could be extended to a way to constrain the meshing phase... adding some "Hard curves" to the surface ? and then using Advanced Surface Mesher ? to get elements 1st side aligned wth the "Hard curves" local orientations ?
For Solid Elements, the Utility Submenu "Align Solid Elements" may help also.
