I am trying to import a bdf into PATRAN 2016 but I cannot get it to work. I always get the following error message:
"Creating Nastran Database using SOL nifimp_v22: Failed but continue"
I have imported this same bdf into an older version of PATRAN (2012) without issue. I am attaching the .f06 file that it leaves behind after it fails. Is there any fix for this?
From the f06 file, you're running on Windows 10. Patran 2016 is only supported on Windows 7. On Win10 it mostly works, but one of the known issues is that bdf import doesn't work. Unfortunately there isn't a workaround. Patran 2017 is the first version that supports Windows 10.
Oh I see. Thanks for the explanation. I guess a workaround would be to import the bdf in Patran 2012 first, update the .db to 2016 then import the .db into my 2016 database. Unless I can convince my company to upgrade to a newer Patran version.
Can a patch be released for this problem? This will be a boon for some users of old versions.
Since Patran 2017, Patran has greatly adjusted the bottom layer of the interface, resulting in some interfaces that we developed before cannot be directly used in 2017 and above.
I'm afraid there are currently no plans for a patch. I'm surprised to hear that some of your custom UIs can no longer be used - there are not usually major problems with PCL in the Qt interface. Can you share specific examples?
You should be able to work with your local MSC representatives to see if it's possible to resolve this.
