Issue accessing .h5 results entity

I'm attempting to update our .bdf files to make use of .h5 instead of .xdb results files. Within Patran, I've made a new .db that successfully imported the .bdf input file. I had already used Nastran to run the .bdf, after adding in the following line at the end of the "BEGIN BULK" section : MDLPRM,HDF5,1.

However, when I go to access the results within Patran, I get the following error:

$# Warning reported from application Results

$# An internal error occurred when retrieving Direct Results Access data in routine: "DraGetStateData".

How do I fix this so I can successfully attach the .h5? I'm pretty sure it output the results properly since I have both an .xdb file (632,256 KB) and an .h5 file (671,944 KB).

Could you please try removing MDLPRM and try to place at the top of Nastran input file:

NASTRAN HDF5=0

Check if this works. Which version of Nastran and Patran you are using?

Hello sir,

I did as you said and the file size of the .hf more or less doubled. Unfortunately I'm still getting the same error. I'm using Nastran/Patran 2021.2

Hi Elijah,

Please include the following in your bulk data section. And remove the nastran statement above. This error should be fixed in 2022.

MDLPRM,HDF5,1,H5INFO,0

Thank you sir! That appears to have done the trick. May I ask, what made that line work instead of just MDLPRM,HDF5,1?

Also, if HDF Viewer is crashing almost instantly when trying to look at results separately, are you the guys to ask what might be going on? Or is that a separate company we go to ask?
