Patran Create Results

I am using Patran "Create Results" option to post process my stress results. I have a number of load cases in my results. Basically i intend to get the ratio of minimum min principal to maximum max principal for my whole model.

I have created two envelope sub-cases with max principal and min principal stress tensors using Create >Results>maximum and Create>Results>minimum option. How do i proceed now to get the ratio, i want?

Hi,

to do this you will need to use the utilities result toolbox, I put together an example in the attached pdf.

I tried the results toolbox as you explained. it works great for ratio calculation.

i am now entering a equation to combine the results and i get the some sort of syntax error , i think.

can you please help me entering a equation of the form A = B*(1-A/B)^C

attached is the screenshot of the error i get when i use the equation i typed.

Hi,

You need to use ** and not ^

check the Help manual section in PCL for "PCL Operators and Expressions"

also as good practice make a real number 1.0 and not an integer 1 just in case you ever do things like 5/2 which would give an integer 2 result and not a real 2.5
