While inspecting the fringe I would like to pick specific elements (or nodes) and have the numerical value for a specified output vector shown/printed.
Is it possible without unposting the result fringe?
Try using Create > Cursor > Scalar/Vector/Tensor, which will allow you to show the result of your on-screen pock of nodes/elements in a floating table.
