If you ever find that you can't open existing database files or create new ones in Patran, try the following:

Create a New Shortcut:

Copy the MSC Patran icon from the desktop.

Paste it into a directory/folder you have access to, such as
C:\test.

Modify Shortcut Properties:

Right-click on the copied shortcut and select 'Properties'.

In the 'Start-in' box, remove any existing text.

Add
-stdoutto the 'Target' field. -
Click 'OK' and 'Apply'.

Launch Patran:

Double-click the modified shortcut to start Patran.

Attempt to open or create a new database.

Troubleshoot Further:

If the issue persists, capture a screenshot of the CMD window that the -stdout produced along with any other Patran messages for further analysis.
