He's disappointed because he wasn't raptured away before it happened-- the whole point his followers were trying to make was for people to get right with God before the end comes, because you don't want to be around when that happens. Which is not a bad message, except for the part about using a specific date for the end of the world as a stick-- most people don't really respond to that. Nobody can know when this will happen. "1 Thessalonians 5:1 ...about times and dates we do not need to write to you, for you know very well that the day of the Lord will come like a thief in the night." Perhaps if Mr. Camping just asked God if the end of the world could be calculated from clues in the bible, he would have saved himself a lot of time. The answer would have been: "No."
