A friend said a coworker asked her a few days before the 21st what she thought about the prediction. The reason for her question:
(paraphrased) "My daughter (college student) wants to know if it's really going to happen, because if so there's some things she needs to do."
???
Unless she meant spiritual (why wouldn't you be doing those anyway?), and if the "end" of the world (as we know it) was coming on that day, what "things" could anyone do?

Stay home from work
Eat a bunch of crap
Dance like nobody is looking
Stop abbreviating test messages
Slap people that say "I know, right?"
