Oil and CMMs do not mix. Our Global Image cost over $4k to bring back to life.
Immediately berate maintenance and management for letting this situation develop.
Protect the CMM. We added an air dryer in front, followed by 2 oil filters and then the factory stuff. Inspect daily. Change filters frequently, they are cheap.
Clean the bearing ways twice a day if in the shop.
But first you'll have to clean out the air system. We spent several days just pumping 99% alcohol into the air line and wiping up oil. Spent nearly 2 weeks not measuring just cleaning.
There is at least one component that was damaged by the alcohol and had to be replace.
Follow up with a calibration.
And don't forget the alcohol for yourself. You stay in this business and you'll need it.
Welcome ClayT. You may want to have a tech fix that oil problem if it's been there for years. We had that problem and had to have all the lines replaced because there was an endless ooze. Good luck!
