Anybody use the equator gauging system? Whats everyones thoughts on this type of equipment, how well does it work and what types of parts is this best used on? Doesnt sound like it will give you measurments from cad models and only compares to a master part.
Reminds me of a helicopter... I love the design, and the concept, and I want a ride in one. But I like simplicity when it comes to my machines. Isn't this just a small CMM with a novel drive system? They're selling it as a gage replacement, but so are CMM's. In other words I fail to grasp the newness of the idea (except the drive concept, which in the end only moves a probe to a part). I imagine price might have something to do with it, but after that why should I buy one over a small CMM? I've got to imagine that the geometry is hard to compensate for here, so if it crashes how expensive is it to fix? RBE? I saw this design many years ago and had the same questions then which were never answered.
