Equator gauging system

Anybody use the equator gauging system? Whats everyones thoughts on this type of equipment, how well does it work and what types of parts is this best used on? Doesnt sound like it will give you measurments from cad models and only compares to a master part.

  • Renishaw isn't exactly known for designing full-blown machines from scratch, the last I can recall is the "cyclone" --- anyone remember that? As with any machine you want to put into production, you want to know about hardware support, service availability (including spare parts) and especially calibration. How exactly do they calibrate a machine with motion of this sort? The closest equivalent technology is a pick-and-place robot-- which are engineered more for speed than microns-levels of accuracy.
