Volume / Pressure Conversion

All,

I know this is not necessarily PCDMIS related but it is job related.

The note on the print says:

Max leakage at 5.5 bar: 5 cubic mm per second at atmospheric pressure.

I have a tester that can input 80 psi and I can measure the drop in pressure. For instance I can watch for 1 min and see that it drops to 70psi. Is there a way to convert this into something I can use to satisfy the print callout? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I don't have an answer for you, but you might try one of the conversion tables on the web. Seems just about any unit of measure can be translated to something else.

I'm thinking you need a vacum, the atmospheric part indicates the leak of concern is from outside in not from the inside out as your tester would do. Interesting, you'll need a certified master orifice (have fun with that one ).

You can do it with the pressure drop over time, but you will need to know the ideal gas law. PV=nRT
P = pressure, V = volume, n = number of moles, R = gas constant, and T = temp. Calculate n for both instances (pressures). Use the difference in molar mass to calculate the volume that leaked out and divide by time.

I am pretty sure that it means it is leaking "into" atmospheric pressure which indicate leaking "inside out"

Edit: Yes you need the volume but there is no set volume for 10 psi
