Scam Alert: Hexagon Metrology cloned job listings.

I'm breaking our long standing policy about not talking about Hexagon Metrology jobs listings on this board for a public service announcement that affects not just Hexagon Metrology's job postings, but potentially any job posting online. Our recruiting manager is particularly steamed about this one, and for good reason.

Scam artists are preying upon job seekers by cloning legitimate job posting ads and using them as a way to obtain people's personal information , presumably for the purposes of identity theft. Hexagon Metrology's job listings have been victimized by just such a scam, where a legitimate posting was cloned on Craigslist by someone claiming to be an applicant screening company working on our behalf. Applicants who responded to the ad were sent an email that looked like this:

Dear Applicant,

Thank you for taking an interest in this open position.

I am a human resources manager of the job application screening company. Our organization is hired by small and large companies and businesses to find the qualified applicants in numerous areas.

Our client has forwarded us your recent email for this position. After reviewing your resume and backend information we have decided to move forward with qualification process. The client is looking for the right applicant for immediate hiring as the position is currently vacant. Please fill in our short application through the secure website as a next step before the live interview. This will take less than 5 minutes. Once you have submitted the form, our manager will contact you within 3-5 business days.

The FreeScreeningPortal.com site requested personal information for a "credit check". While these particular listings have been removed, it's probable that this scam will surface again on Craiglist or elsewhere.

It's our hope that passing this information along will prevent others from being scammed by these or any other lowlifes running a similar racket.

If you're interested in a career with Hexagon Metrology, we only accept applications through the ADP Employease website which will have the form of https://home.eease.adp.com/recruit/ plus a listing number. We never ask for credit check information with a resume submission, and we don't use outside screening firms. If we are interested in a candidate, we will contact you ourselves as the first point of contact. If you're contacted by someone with an email address other than @hexagonmetrology.com or @wilcoxassoc.com about a screening for a Hexagon Metrology job, it isn't legitimate.

All our real open positions for the USA and Canada are listed on the HexagonMetrology.us site on the Career Opportunities page, or international listings on this page.
