Off topic - Optical Comparator

Hi All :

Sorry! I know this is an off topic from PCDMIS. We are currently looking for an 'Optical Comparator' . I just want to have your opinion and recommendation on What brand and model is the best out there in the market. We are in farm equipment manufacturing and lots of internal parts that we want to do some inspection. Of course we should section some parts to do the testing.

Any recommendation will be highly appreciated.

I have used this brand for many years at Dana Corp, AlliedSignal, Bosch, etc. etc. etc.
Recommend them highly.

We have one old Deltronic, one old and one late model OGP, and I think six late model MicroVU. Everyone in our shop likes the MicroVUs and the newer OGP.

We've got more Starrett 400's than anything else, newer ones, 14" screen, newer Quadra-Checks, a couple have video and most have edge detectors. Very nice little comparators with a good picture providing the mirrors are kept clean (they are on 6 month PM with local company to cal and clean). Pretty accurate too. We have several of the old "battle ship anchors" being the old 30" OGPs and J&Ls.

We have at least 7 of the 14" Starrett HB400s, with the Quadra-Checks. Two 30" Starretts... also with Quadra-Check....

+1 on the J&L comps.
I have used them for many years without any issues.

We currently have a new Paragon 24P (from Dorsey). It's a nice comparator with edge detection. The control panel bit the dust in a little over a year and needed repaired. $800 later its up and running. I sometimes think the new stuff is not built as robust as the old stuff.....
