The CMM programmer position is responsible for the accurate and precise layout of prototypes, product capability studies, failure analysis using CMM, Optical Comparator and a variety of measurement equipment. In addition to Layout activities, the position is responsible for the Gage Control System, gage calibrations, gage design and fabrication, GR&R, and acts as key resource in proper gage application. This position will work the 1st shift and report to the Quality Systems Supervisor.
Principal Responsibilities of the Mechanical Layout Technician include:
• Layout of Annual Validations, per customer and Filtran requirements.
• Responsible for internal layouts to support APQP / Prototype, Capability Studies, Field Failure Analysis, “Repeats”, “Drop In's (often urgent), and layouts to support Tooling.
• Responsible for providing layout reports and analysis.
• Takes the lead when outside layout services are necessary by organizing, instructing, and coordinating the layout required. Responsible to ensure outside layout sources possess the necessary capabilities and certifications. Required to review final layout documentation and analysis and provide internal feedback where necessary.
• Gage calibration responsibility will include calibration of new & old gages and fixtures. Responsible to confirm calibration of all purchased new gages.
• Administrative duties include maintaining gage records, determining calibration frequencies, and to approving outside sources of calibration and their schedule, documents, and certifications.
• Responsible to ensure GR&R activities are performed properly, all reports and studies properly analyzed and filed.
• Key member in gage design for in process inspection and / or other internal gage needs.
• Acts as facility trainer to train individuals and teams in gage use. Typical gages include: Hand Held, Electronic, CMM, Optical Comparator, and others.
• Provide layout services to both Internal & External Customers
• Other duties and projects completed as assigned
